The Internet has brought a lot of new ways of doing business and marketing. The ability to reach out to millions of potential customers around the world has change many business and created new forms of it.

Technology evolves and business has to change. If you can’t keep up, you are bound to fail. The biggest change in the Internet technology is the appearance of social networks. It has change the way people interact, it has created communities and the Internet is no longer just a information exchange medium.

It’s not a new concept in business to have a two way relationship with the customers. To succeed and dominate they competition, businesses have learned to listen to their customers and fulfill their needs. However, with conventional methods it is extremely hard. The old methods of communication are slow and expensive. Every single business is seeking how to improve those processes.

The Internet as medium has improved communication process dramatically. However, they were essentially the same and their effectiveness has decreased as they have become cheaper. Social marketing, however, has brought them to a whole new level.

Social networks engage the users, they become constantly interested in your services. Think of it as a party with good friends, it’s much easier to communicate than the formal, distant way. To achieve this and create such a community is every marketer’s dream. Not only to have a hungry crowd but to know their every need, to be able to give them what they want and make money from it.

As good as it sounds, though, there are obstacles a marketer must defeat. Finding the right communities and establishing a relationship with them is a difficult task. the big social networks have strict rules that limit the freedom to do business, and creating a private network takes a lot of effort and time.
