Using pay per click advertising is the system of choice for many internet based companies to receive large amounts of traffic to their website in a short space of time. Despite many new techniques being available, this type of marketing is still very popular. If you are curious about pay per click search marketing and what it can do for you, there are a few things that you should keep in mind.
Essentially, when you decide that you want to try this kind of advertising, you will create a small ad referring to your site that will be put up on a larger site that many people frequently look at. Providing the person who sees and clicks on your links stays for longer than ten seconds, the site they came from gets paid from your account as a thank you.
There are a couple of pints to remember about this: your advert will be related to the subject of the site it is being used on and these sites are generating huge amounts of traffic. Another reason this is a cost efficient process is because you only pay the hosting site when the links are used.
This is where the cost benefits come in against other forms of marketing where there is a cost up front without any guarantee the advert will even be noticed. In the early days it was often said that a competitor would try to deplete their competitors advertising budget by clicking on their link until they used it up but this rarely happens these days. Pay per click is one of the most targeted types of marketing available which means it is extremely cost effective for businesses that often lose a great deal advertising to those with no interest in their product. You basically have a captive audience of people looking for something you are marketing, on a related site they are visiting.
This pay per click method is best illustrated with Google’s Adwords facility but this is not the only one. All that happens is people will only see your advert if they enter a search phrase or just a single word that you have designated Google to use. When you see the results page on entering your search term, you may see the advert at the top of Google’s results or on the right had column.

It is this immediate effect that appeals to many advocates of pay per click marketing. This is a very fast way to learn if you have used the correct wording for a particular advert and it is cost effective as well. This is still the most popular method of marketing because it works and most companies, large and small will use pay per click advertising as a standard method to market themselves.
